CES Skill Development and Employment Fair

Each of India’s founding fathers, may it be Mahatma Gandhi or Sardar Patel had emphasized on the importance of skill development. Even our Charotar Education Society was established in 1916 with the purpose of taking education to the rural population. Our own founding fathers had realized the importance of skill development and wholesome education as a necessity for rural population, hence many skill based programs were taught at the institution from its very beginning.

On 2nd of August, 2015 Charotar Education Society will host a Skill Development and Employment Fair organized in liaison with Gujarat Skill Development Mission, running for three consecutive days. The primary beneficiaries of this fair are the students who for one reason or the other have not been refrained from taking the advantage of opportunities in life.

The Gujarat Government under the Skill Development Mission aims to equip one lakh people with skills to generate income for themselves every year. This mission will bring plethora of skill development programs, courses and their live demonstration to the Campus ground of our very own D.N. High School, Anand. The underlining fact that for improving one’s standard of living, a source of income is necessary; for source of income, financial engagement is necessary, may it be under employment or self-employment; and for financial engagement skill is absolutely necessary. The Skill Development and Employment Fair organized by our Charotar Education Society will fulfill all of the above requirements on a single platform and provide a pathway to a better standard of living to the beneficiaries.

The fair is organized with the coordination from the Commissioner of Emploument and Training. An employment and registration for various programs will also take place at the fair. Many industries, institution, and stakeholders have taken advantage of this opportunity and represented themselves at the fair. The Skill Development and Employment Fair would host eminent speaker hailing from the field of:

  • Jobs in Mechanical Trade
  • Pharma Industry
  • Armed Forces and Coast Guard
  • Institute of Design
  • Construction and Building Sector
  • Banking and Industry Finances
  • Information Technology
  • Management
  • Child Psychology and Counselling
  • Entrepreneurship Development
  • Health and Related Services
  • Gems and Jewellery
  • Media and Mass Communication

The fair will hold 100 stalls spread across 2 domes located in the CES campus in Anand. The entry to the fair will be free and open to all from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th of August.
We have assigned a special day for our young students to visit the fair and gain exposure to the numerous career options that are available to them from an early age itself. It is necessary that they are aware of the countless opportunities that are open for them in lieu of adhering to the popular and conventional fields of occupation.

With more career options our students will not be burdened to unwillingly fit under conventional vocations and will have the freedom to choose something that they themselves would love to engage in as a profession. We believe that this is far better than working everyday of your life for something that you have to do instead of what you want to do. Wider scope of careers, we hope, will yield a huge variety of students getting into an even wider variety of fields.

The Power of One

Bhavin Patel explains the Importance of One Rupee
“Today we live in the economy of hundreds and thousands, where a rupee practically seems a trivial amount to us. In our everyday life, we consider a rupee equivalent to a chocolate and nothing more; that would be the first and possibly the only thing that we perceive to be bought with a rupee. Many a times we accept mints or chocolates instead of a rupee in our day to day purchase and some event find it too trivial a matter to consider waiting for or fussing over to obtain the change of a rupee, many a times letting it go. It is not much to us today, is it?

Students of Kasturba Kanya Vidyalay
But, consider this: if every person saves 1 rupee a day, which doesn’t seem too difficult a matter, we save 30 rupees a month. If 100 such people put together their 1 rupee a day savings it becomes 300 rupees a month. And if a 1,000 such people come together that makes 30,000 rupees a month. Now that is a significant amount; and therein lays the concept of our ‘The Power of One’.

Students from Ambalal Balshala
We have organized an Addiction Relief club. We believe that Addiction of any sort may it be as small as sweet sopari not only harms our health but also weakens us economically. We preach that the money they put into their objects of addiction they should save it for themselves and out of that donate just 1 rupee for a good cause. I have come across many young boys who have been seen with tobacco or smokes. We want to help them quit by giving them a good cause to donate to and an understanding of financial savings.

The collection gained through this campaign would be put to use for the students who need economically help of any kind. There are students who show good potential, put they sometimes fall short of resources. We want to help those students with their books or stationary or fees. There are even students who are physically challenged and have certain special requirement, in such cases we want to work towards fulfilling them.

The concept came from our Chairman Nirav Patel. The Addiction Relief club is one of the appeals that we have adopted for the campaign, in the same manner we are working with various concepts to help induce a sense of saving and financial management among the students and of that savings we ask them to just put 1 rupee aside for helping their fellow students who need help.

The History of Charotar Education Society-1

One of the leading education trusts that found its origin in 1916, in the land of SARDAR, to the nearest epicenter where the White Revolution or rather Milk Revolution began. The driving source behind 12 schools and 11 colleges is stretched over 4 huge campuses which provide accommodation for more than 20,000 students taking track towards their bright careers.

The institute holds Historical Values as well, the institute is along the DANDI HERITAGE MARG (NH 228) and the alumni were among those who welcomed Mahatma Gandhi during his stay at CES enroute to Dandi. The institute has played a role in bringing revolution at the time of Dandi Heritage Marg. The essence of our late Nation leaders still lies there. The two days that he spent at the campus became a source of inspiration for the next four generations and continues to draw inspiration today as well.

The basic element which we are interested in providing is Education. Education has been our forte and the Alumni have been put to test what they assimilated at CES. They believe in themselves and so they believe to contribute in their way, small and large , to bring the change in the society. With teaching as our focus, we also look forward to impart a sense of belongingness among our students and endeavor to reach out to the society and contribute to the well being of the society in many variegated ways. Grasping things from the curriculum is not the only important thing taught here. We believe in grooming the students making them a better person, a better human being. The upbringing in the institute brings a ray of hope in life of each and every student residing in the institute. It enlightens the life of student in every aspect as it has some precious values and ethics.

The 'Vehm-Andhshradha' Nirmulan Program

As a part of the centenary year celebrations, Charotar Education Society organized an event on the blind faith with the noble motive of bringing awareness in the society. The event was organized in the Bakrol village on 25th June 2015. On the occasion, Shri Anilbhai Patel, founder member of the Nisarg Community Science Centre; Gandhinagar discussed about various beliefs prevalent in the society based on blind faith and how various fake people take wrong advantage of this ignorance of the people by practical demonstrations.

Anil Bhai said that the main reason of the blind faith prevalent in our society is the ignorance of the people due to the lack of scientific temperament. Even well educated people also still believe in such blind beliefs just like uneducated people and don’t think of thinking logically as they fear it will go again the religion and faith. Thus due to such strong and blind faith in the religion, we get daily a new religious preacher; a bhuva; tantric or a mataji; out of which majority of them just fool people on the name of religion.

Anil Bhai stated that behind every such miracle, there lies some scientific logic, like blood coming out of coconut, ‘Mataji na pagla padya’ (steps of goddess), chundadi coming out of coconut and like that much more. For instance, in the case of Mataji na pagla, a thin solution of turmeric and water with some chemical is prepared and applied on tiles before devotees start arriving. Then due to the constant passing of the people, due to their foot impressions, red footprint arises on the floor, which are propagated as Mataji’s pagla and people are fooled and money is collected from them in wrong way. Similar is the case with other such blind faith rituals. Moreover, there is no scientific logic behind beliefs like  black cat crossing your path harms you and other such beliefs.

Talking about science and religion, Anil Bhai said that there is nothing wrong in believing in God or religion. “Dharma” actually is a way to live the life. Remembering god or chanting god’s name gives peace to both heart and mind. But religion today is mostly taken in a wrong way and due to high level of blind faith wrong concepts are now deep rooted in people’s mind. Due to excessive blind faith amongst people and incomplete knowledge about the religion & logic, people are wasting more and more productive time in religious practices instead of engaging in fruitful work activities.

Today, India has around 30 lakh people who in the name of customs and religion do not work and are dependent on begging and related activities for their survival. Such people who exist in large number are like a burden on the economy of our nation and tax payers who work hard day and night. If such people engage themselves in some skill based activities, they can help in our economy.

People in our nation still lack scientific approach in their behaviour in spite of increasing rate of education. Our main motive is now to bring awareness among people, both educated and uneducated as well as urban and rural people.  People need to understand the difference between religion, spiritualism and blind faith. Real development is only possible when each and every citizen of India will develop scientific temperament and logistic approach. Because where there is science, there is development.
